When Czech Tourism invited me to Prague, after looking at the program I instantly knew I’d need more time to explore the city of Prague. So the very least I could do was add one more day to my trip to fully explore the place on my own. No program. No rush. No plans. I just wanted to go out, and see what I’d find.
Another day would mean another night in Prague as well. So I needed a place to sleep. After spending two nights in the Czech-inn I felt the last night would be better suited with a little more class and comfort. Sure the Czech-inn was fine. The private room spacious and it had a nice view. But you can’t escape the hostel / hotel combination mindset. The floors weren’t vacuumed well, the wifi was slow and the free welcome drink voucher could only get me a Espresso, Americano or small beer. So when at 8 in the morning when I asked for a Cappuccino, they declined and offered me a small beer instead. It must be me, but early mornings, when I wake up I just want a coffee, not beer. Apart from that the Czech-inn was fine. No complaints there as you get what you pay for.
Arriving at the Hilton Prague, was a whole different world. This hotel was huge. Stepping inside made you feel you were in a small village of its own. Now you think that must have been the most not personal experience ever. Nothing could be less true.
The previous nights made me feel I just was one of the people they made money of, nobody really cared about you and providing a little more effort to make you customer feel appreciated did not happen. Arriving at the Hilton, I felt valued every minute of my stay.
Being unfamiliar with Prague I was a little hesitant about the location, but trust me, this place is at an ideal location! Its just between the historic Old Town and the business district, and has both tram, bus and metro stops minutes away from the hotel entrance that bring you right into old town Prague. To indicate how ideal the location is, I havent used any of the public transport even once while staying in Hilton. By foot I made my way all over town. There’s a costa coffee right in front of the Hilton, multiple supermarkets and you easily walk right up to one of the bigger shopping malls of Prague with a huge foodcourt.
So even if this isn’t located in the Old Town, all of Prague’s major attractions and shopping centers are within easy reach and the airport is just a 25 minute drive away.
So why was my stay in Hilton Prague amazing? Here’s a list of things that made my stay, and will make yours very much enjoyable.
- A great starting point to explore Prague. Little unexpected but extremely great location. Away from the mass tourists, but close enough to walk anywhere, along with public transport right outside the door.
- 25-minute drive from Václav Havel Airport Prague
- Complimentary WiFi in public areas (Also in my room, and the wifi was nice and fast!)
- Dine in style. There are three restaurants and two bars including a rooftop sky bar with awesome views in this Hotel.
- The perfect space to relax. Spacious rooms and they have a 2000 sq.m. LivingWell Health Club & Spa. So how ideal is this to relax after a day long of exploring the city? you’ll be fresh and rested to do the same the day after.
- Breakfast is included, and that means a breakfast that meets the Hilton standards.
- Check-inn was smooth and fast. I arrived in the morning and there weren’t any issues checking me inn early and instantly providing me access to my room.
- Staff all over the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful.
Next to the main hotel features, my stay was even more enjoyable due to being booking into an executive room. Have this luxury provides an even more relaxing experience. I see you already wonder why.
- A contemporary bright 28 sq. m./301 sq. ft. room means there’s quite some space. The large windows bring in all the day light you need.
- King sized beds. I don’t know about you but I love having all the extra space in bed.
- The alarm clock also has a easy to use radio and can be connected to your phone for playback of your own music.
- You can make your own coffee right inside of your room. An extra coffee surely helped me waking up around sunrise to go explore the city early.
- The executive rooms are located on the top floors. So the view from my room window was great, looking over the city.
- With the room comes Executive Lounge access with free continental breakfast and refreshments. Waking up, and having French toast and coffee early in the morning, in the quiet executive lounge was the perfect way of waking up.
- You can work in comfort at the large desk with ergonomic chair so editing some photo’s on the laptop was no problem in my room.
- Relax in the bathroom with separate shower. Don’t we all hate when the bathroom shows a bath and shower in one? You stand in the bath taking a shower with little space. Not here. the separate bath allows you to relax. Prefer a shower? Just move to the shower area.
- The (different) staff members available at the executive floor were also super helpful. They answered any question I had about the hotel, public transport, and making reservations for the hotel restaurant. Offering to help with anything. A friendly smile in the morning and a friendly good night during the evenings. Staff truly made me feel welcome and appreciated being their guest.
During the evening I chose to dine in style. Upon selecting which of the restaurants to dine in, I figured I really was tired from walking all day, thus wanted to take my time for dinner.
this instantly comes to the one thing I at time feel awkward about when travelling alone: dinner time. I sure have no issues grabbing a quick burger by myself but somehow it always feels a little weird when I dine at one of the finer restaurants by myself.
Still my choice was clear, after looking at the menu and listening to staff recommendations I had to try the CZECHOUSE GRILL & ROTISSERIE.
CzecHouse Grill & Rotisserie is known for its US prime steaks and traditional Czech classics. The contemporary and sophisticated restaurant offers aromatic tastes, created from local ingredients.
And once the food started to arrive I knew I made the right choice coming here. Service was great and friendly and due to it being a little later in the evening and the restaurant not being extremely busy, the staf took its time for shorts chats. They made me feel welcome once again, served with a smile and recommendations.
So overall I had a truly great (short) stay at the Prague Hilton and am surely looking forward to being back here rather sooner than later. Great service, great quality on anything I encountered and friendly staff along with quite somethings to do in the hotel. From the restaurant, to the spa, to the gym, to the rooftop bar there is options to be entertained all day long.
Until next time Hilton (Prague)!
